DIGITAL EXHIBITION
Teenagers Focus on Conflict, Peace and Protest
Teenagers face many challenges in today’s world and have unique perspectives on our society. Photography students from years 7 to 11 at Morpeth Secondary School explored conflict, peace and protest. The result was an abundance of powerful images.
This is a digital-only exhibition. Explore the full series of works below.
Our 'Rising Voices' exhibition showcased the creative work of photographic students from 7-12. The thoughtful and imaginative pieces displayed offered a unique insight into the minds and lives of teenagers in Tower Hamlets, encouraging reflection on the challenges facing our society. At the same time, the exhibition conveyed a powerful sense of hope for the future.
When Anna Lubelska, founder of the Peace Building charity, approached Amy Wren, Head of Art and Photography at Morpeth School, with the idea of inviting students to express their thoughts and feelings about our troubled world, Amy responded enthusiastically. She involved students from Years 7 to 11, along with several Year 12 students (who had already achieved their GCSE in Photography) to help lead and oversee the workshops - making this a student led and collaborative project.
The Morpeth community is committed to learning and achievement, built on friendship and mutual respect, where every individual is valued. The student body reflects the rich diversity of the local area, and when combined with the work of the Peace Building charity - which seeks to educate future generations of peace leaders through youth and community peace-building projects and exhibitions - it resulted in a creative and purposeful exhibition.
